Docking Test Probe (Archive)

^^ Craft Information - Ascent Failure ^^

The R&D labs have completed the design for our docking ports, which will allow two spacecraft to mate in orbit for exchange of resources and/or personnel. For the initial test of these docking ports, due mainly to the current small size of our astronaut corps, only one of the craft will be under kerbed control, with the other being flown into position remotely. This is the remote craft that will go into orbit first and wait for the kerbed mission to come up for docking trials.

The craft has failed to achieve orbit, breaking up during ascent 1:37 after liftoff. Eastern range was clear and no danger to marine vessels exists. The next several days will see a review of the launch telemetry to attempt to determine where the failure occured. Kerbed mission delayed.
