a column of hardy land vehicles departed the Kongo base yesterday to trek out into the Great Desert, among them the high-altitude KerBalloon team. They will release a balloon over bit.ly/Area_KD-6392 to gather data on atmospheric moisture levels, among other things

we have word from the Kongo the KB high-alt crew finally rolled back in three days overdue after they had to seek shelter from a massive sandstorm that blew through - thankfully after they had released and recovered their balloon, seen here on initial ascent
