high-altitude KerBalloon crew have a new contract and will be embarking next week with a science expedition out to the Badlands, the first surface excursion to this inaccessible and inhospitable region of Kerbin since mid-2018. At least this time ATN Central is a waystop

wishing best of luck to the high-altitude KerBalloon crew as they set off on their mission to the Badlands. The expedition will take up to 4-5 weeks to make the most of the journey while also lasting as long as possible in the unforgiving conditions of the area

sometime this week is when the hi-alt KB crew is scheduled to release their balloons. They have a backup that'll go up too, hopefully collecting data *in addition* to the primary. If so, it'll be in a separate location. Badlands cover an area ~100,000km^2 twitter.com/KSA_MissionCtr…

Badlands scientific expedition brought home a haul of data that will keep scientists busy for years & KB hi-alt team successfully released both balloons over separate locations. Here is from their original release site bit.ly/Area_F-CDSX. Badlands look deceptively welcoming
