high-altitude KerBalloon crew will be releasing a payload up over the mountains from the highlands between Ockr & Sheltered Rock as ongoing studies continue work to improve weather forecast models for various regions of the planet, especially near the future surface colony

high-altitude KerBalloon team are hopping on a Dhumla flight out to Ockr where they will then take an airship out to bit.ly/Sector_M-J8B4 for their release. Fixed-wing flight predictably starting to take over for inter-regional travel

the sky is barely brightened over here but the high-altitude KB crew 512km northeast has daylight already to send up their payload. We are receiving telemetry data and this photo via the comm relay leading to Sheltered Rock, perched on that flat peak in the far distance

high-altitude KerBalloons still have to deal with icing issues that can lead to early envelope failure but after nearly 1.5hrs of ascent the payload almost made it to max altitude of 25km. Crew is tracking its descent for recovery

KerBalloon crew is on their way back to Ockr after successfully locating and recovering the payload, which thankfully did not come floating down over any challenging terrain. They will be back at KSC by the end of the day with the precious science data
