time to close out the work week! As usual, review of this past week & extra details available in our Ops Summary: bit.ly/OpsSummary6-19…

@KSA_MissionCtrl
astronauts are doing well & heading back to KSC from Ockr, except Bob who is staying to catch the last day of the KAS space symposium
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
Bill has departed w/2 UTVs for our 2nd attempt at completing our contract up at bit.ly/Pilots_Wonder, will take all day cycle to traverse
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
not that anyone's asked, but how do we transport a KerBalloon? Balloon casing goes on UTV roof the rest is packed into the storage container
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
before parachutes were integrated with the casing we used Progeny nosecones, so large a 2nd UTV had to carry them. Now just one is needed
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
thru airship comms relay we have report that the UTVs have reached the survey zone & are assembling the payload for launch, night ascent
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
launch reported, balloon inflated w/o issue, ascending @ 5m/s. Launch site is 113km away so it will be a while until balloon clears horizon
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
passing thru 9.5km we have acquisition of signal from the balloon payload, telemetry stream reads nominal status. Aiming for 24.9km apokee
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
early envelope failure @ 20.6km, unfortunately launch Wx was very overcast, leading to moisture buildup then icing but > contract altitude
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
UTVs will head out to track down the payload at 3rd sunrise. Bob meanwhile has just arrived back at KSC from his extra day stay in Ockr
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
UTVs are rolling, airship has provided a 10km area 38km NNW of the launch site in which to search for the payload, transponder still active
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
payload finally located - it was hard to find because it is hung up in a tree again. These are not small trees out there. Time to climb!
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
Bill reports they've managed to get the payload down without damaging it or anyone on the crew in the process. Are loading up & heading back
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
KB crews stopping for the night cycle, still have about 1h47min left of travel time left, they will pickup the traverse at next sunrise
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
UTVs have broken camp out to the north & are back to roving with about 75km of ground remaining to cover before they will arrive back at KSC
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
making better time than predicted, Bill & crew are rolling back into KSC. Here's an img we have of the KerBalloon stuck in the tree. See it?
