servicing for the Deuce is completed and it's being rolled back out to its parking spot on the tarmac. Genesis is working on closing a deal for its next contract mission this week after negotiations fell through on an earlier planned contract at the start of Feb

we once again bid farewell to Aldeny & Tedman, who will be returning to flight instructor duties while this whole C7 mess is sorted out. If Ascension can free up Val and/or Jeb every now and then, Genesis may still be able to fly missions with the Deuce & Civvie

one of Flight Director Lanalye's sim scenarios got a bit *too* realistic in shorting out part of the capsule console and actually damaged some of the instruments, necessitating repairs that will last at least two days

break time for the astronauts? Hardly! Bill will be helping to fix it, Bob will be helping to re-write the sim software while Jeb & Val plan a Deuce flight for tomorrow to take care of a contract that's been laying in wait since the C7 Aerospace fallout

Jeb & Val are reporting to briefing ahead of their flight today, trekking almost 900km south to the polar ice shelf to gather some air samples with the Atmospheric Fluid Spectro-Variometer currently mounted atop the Deuce. They will depart at sunset to arrive at sunrise

Deuce has departed under barely-VFR weather conditions but climbing out southeast over the water they don't have to worry about terrain obstruction. Jeb has command for this leg of the flight with Val navigating and managing comms from the right seat

Val has signed off as the aircraft nears the horizon. We expect to re-establish contact sometime in the next 4-5 hours and have wished them a safe flight. Flying over the water during darkness is relatively safe & they will have sunrise as they approach hazardous terrain

Jeb has contacted us 100km out as they approach KSC, reporting they had to abort the mission due to poor weather along their route in multiple locations. Diverting around multiple times eventually led them to run too low on fuel to continue

60km out Flight has confirmed weather is good over KSC and cleared Val to begin descent to land on Rwy09. Here is a look at their flight data. First a storm at sea (visible at night by the lightning) then two cases of continuous severe turbulence. Just unfortunate luck

rolling out of a smooth touchdown, Val will taxi the Deuce back to parking outside the HAB. Repairs to the capsule simulator are ongoing as expected so they will make another attempt tomorrow, departing again at 2nd sunset prior to the LES pad abort test the following day cycle

poor weather today has scrubbed the Deuce mission, which will have to once again be put on indefinite hold until C7 gets their affairs back in order or Jeb & Val have some more free time from their training - capsule sim is nearly fixed & they will be back at it tomorrow

Jeb realized he forgot to share with us this photo he took from the cockpit yesterday as dawn was approaching. It's a great look at the southern aurora & also shows why they planned the mission to arrive over land at this time to ensure hazardous terrain is avoided
