we'll be dispatching the MSV Tongjess on Monday with a high-altitude KerBalloon, hoping to launch same day but Wx constraints are tight now
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess has anchored offshore, Bob will be accompanying the crews on the voyage, Bill says he still prefers to remain on solid ground
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess has sent us notice of anchors aweigh and she is now heading for the survey location bit.ly/USI_Zone_7-BNC 55km southeast

word from MSV Tongjess is they are within the zone but weather is not viable for launch. Will hold station & hope for better conditions
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
the crew aboard MSV Tongjess are still hoping for better weather conditions, 4th sunrise is here & they will return to monitoring the skies
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
balloon launch scrubbed for today, no chance of recovery before sunset now & seas too rough to recover at night. Will try again tomorrow
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess reports Wx worsened overnight and is still not favorable for a balloon launch. Will remain on station to try throughout today
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess captain says Wx has been improving, but he doubts it will clear in time for next day cycle. is continuing to monitor conditions
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
once again, we're going to hope for better weather conditions tomorrow for balloon launch. We can't risk any ice forming on the envelope
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
balloon conditions were good after 1st sunrise today but of course launch ctrl closed. Hi lvl clouds now but maybe clear again 3rd sunrise
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
crews out on the MSV Tongjess already prepping launch of the high-altitude ballon, say skies have been clear all night, air relatively dry
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
we confirmed launch just over 9min ago and have picked up signal from the balloon now at 2.7km as it clears the horizon, relaying this image
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
high-altitude balloon ascent remains nominal. Flight time to upper-limits of the envelope is ~1h20m so expecting recovery phase in ~20-25min
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
we had a complete ascent, good descent & payload is now under chute within sight of Tongjess' launch craft moving under it for recovery
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
maneuvering a small boat to collect the payload before it splashes down is how we'll recover Progeny Mk3 probes, this is a trial exercise
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess reports probe collection intact prior to splashdown! They almost had to fish Bob out of the water tho. On the way back now
Kerbal Space Agency
@KSA_MissionCtrl
MSV Tongjess has anchored offshore & its launch has delivered the probe to us, now in the VAB. Bob took this as it neared KSC from the south
