POP! We have negative vertical spd, balloon envelope failure on schedule. Chutes are armed & Lymun is nearby dispatching the recovery craft

we've heard the recovery crews saw the balloon casing floating beside the chute, which appeared to get pulled under, taking balloon with it

it's surprising that a sea creature would be interested in the parachute but hopefully it doesn't think it tastes good & unit resurfaces

no sign of the sunken KB unit yet. Recovery craft has begun a search pattern - it could have floated up in a current & be a few km away

greater worry though is that it was dragged too deep & casing integrity was compromised. Wouldn't take much, 150m or so & it would just sink
